Even though the Fort Worth City Council has accepted a free armored SWAT vehicle from the federal government, three council members voted against it - and that has upset some police officers.
The Fort Worth Police Officers Association blasted city council members Chris Nettles, Jared Williams and Elizabeth Beck for their vote.
"We believed we had a full council that believed in public safety and wanted the best for our police officers" said POA President Manny Ramirez.
Councilman Nettles says he voted no because he does not support militarizing the police department. But he says he clearly supports the police.
He points out Fort Worth PD already has two of the same armored vehicles so he opposed adding a third.
The majority of the council voted to accept the offer from the Department of Homeland Security.
