The Fort Worth Zoo family just grew by four hooves and one incredibly long neck! They are absolutely thrilled to welcome a healthy, sweet, and energetic female baby giraffe to the world.
The 6'2" tall baby was born May 31 weighing 152 pounds
Mom and baby are doing fantastic, but there’s just one tiny (well, giant) problem... she needs a name!
You have until June 27 to vote on her name. The three name options are:
- Kumi: The Swahili word for "10," celebrating the fact that this calf is her mother Kala's 10th baby.
- Honey: A nod to the newborn female's exceptionally sweet demeanor.
- Iris: A tribute to the native plant and flower species found across the sub-Saharan savannas.
