A fourth-grader from Glenhope Elementary School in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD was bitten by a snake Tuesday while on a class field trip to Parr Park in Grapevine.
Principal Alishia Ilic notified parents in a letter sent the same day that the student was bitten during the outing. School staff immediately contacted the child’s parents, who responded quickly and took their child for medical care. The field trip ended early, and all fourth-grade students returned to campus. A campus counselor is now meeting with students to offer reassurance and support.
The type of snake involved has not been released, and the student’s identity and current condition have not been made public. No other students or staff were reported injured in the incident.
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD directed all media questions to the principal’s letter. Parr Park, a popular public green space in the city, is frequently used for school outings and family activities in the North Texas suburbs east of Dallas-Fort Worth.
Snake sightings and bites are not uncommon in the region during warmer months as reptile season ramps up, though serious incidents involving school groups remain rare. The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD serves thousands of students across multiple communities and emphasizes safety protocols for off-campus activities.
