A Denton County man notorious for deliberately ramming a pickup truck into the FOX 4 building in downtown Dallas in 2018 has been arrested again — this time on accusations that he dug up human remains from a local cemetery and abused them.

Bartonville police and FBI agents arrested Michael Chadwick Fry on Wednesday. Investigators said their case began after receiving a tip that Fry had removed remains from a local cemetery. The Bartonville Police Department, assisted by Special Agents and Task Force Officers from the FBI, executed a search warrant at his Bartonville residence on Oakwood Drive.

Fry is currently charged with abuse of a corpse, a state jail felony. Police did not share any details about the identity of the remains or which cemetery was involved, citing the ongoing investigation.

In 2018, police say Fry repeatedly smashed a rented pickup truck into the FOX 4 affiliate building in downtown Dallas during a morning newscast. He also tossed thousands of papers on the ground containing random words and phrases — including "high treason" and "witchery" — which were printed copies of news reports from a 2012 incident involving Denton County Sheriff's deputies who shot and killed a driver who had been ramming their patrol vehicle. Fry was a passenger in that car. No injuries were reported in the 2018 incident, and Fry was charged with criminal mischief.

Denton County court records show that Fry has been arrested more than two dozen times, dating back to 2003. His prior charges include assault, burglary of a habitation, theft of property, terroristic threat, and resisting arrest. He was most recently booked into the Denton County Jail on March 20, 2022, on a criminal mischief charge stemming from an October 2021 incident.

Under Texas law, abuse of a corpse is a state jail felony punishable by 180 days to two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000.

Bartonville PD said the case remains active and ongoing and that additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
