A Gainesville ISD employee was one of two people arrested for online solicitation of a minor last week in Cooke County. Hunter Jordan, 26, was arrested as part of a sting involving several departments.
The Cooke County Sheriff's Office says the operation involved the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Collin County Sheriff's Office and The Colony Police Department. They say investigators posed as children online July 15 and 16.
Investigators would chat with people they say were trying to solicit underage children. The Cooke County Sheriff's Office says Jordan made plans to meet someone he thought was a child.
The sheriff's office says Jordan arrived at the location in Gainesville in a school district vehicle. He was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor.
Gainesville ISD confirmed the arrest in a letter to parents saying no children were involved. The district says Jordan had worked for the district three years in the maintenance department.
"The employee was immediately placed on administrative leave and has since been terminated from employment in GISD. We will continue to follow District protocols to comply with all legal requirements," the letter reads.
Gainesville ISD says all employees go through background checks when they are hired, and the district has a subscription "to all staff background reports for the entirety of their employment."
Also arrested in the sting was Edmond Judkins, 57. Tuesday morning, both Jordan and Judkins were still listed in the Cooke County Jail on charges of online soliciation of a minor. Both had bonds set at $150,000.
