The Johnson County Sheriff has been indicted on two felony charges.
Those charges involve Corrupt Influence: Retaliation Against a Witness and a misdemeanor charge of Abuse of Office: Official Oppression Sexual Harassment.
The Texas Rangers began investigating Sheriff Adam King on sexual harassment and official misconduct allegations.
Johnson County Judge Christopher Boedeker says the process for what happens next is rather complicated.
"The Legislature updated the rules for removing an official from office. That's a complicated process," Judge Boedeker told NBC5. "That process has not been started at this point to my knowledge."
A grand jury indicted Sheriff King this week and he voluntarily put himself on administrative leave. Captain Ben Arriola has been appointed to serve in his place.
We have reached out to an attorney for Sheriff King and are waiting for a response.
