A Balch Springs man who is accused of killing a Mesquite police officer in December has been reindicted for the murder.
37-year old Jaime Jaramillo is accused in the December 3rd shooting that killed Mesquite Police officer Richard Houston. The shooting happened in the parking lot of an Albertsons in Mesquite.
Investigators say officer Houston was responding to a call regarding a domestic situation between Jaramillo and his estranged wife when the suspect shot and killed him.
Jaramillo attempted suicide and was transported to the hospital where he survived his wounds. He was later sent to the Dallas County jail where he is also being held on an Immigration (ICE) hold.
The latest indictment contains new language that is more finely-tuned to the charge. Jaramillo could face the death penalty for the shooting.
