The Grand Prairie ISD school board voted 5-2 Monday night to fire Superintendent Jorge Arredondo after a months-long dispute. The board made the decision during an executive session Monday, ending Arredondo’s tenure after just six months.

The decision followed a period during which Arredondo had been on paid administrative leave since September, pending an investigation into an alleged violation of the district's harassment policy. Before the board entered the closed-door meeting, several parents voiced support for Arredondo.

"I am asking, I am begging, I am imploring board members please, I've been in Grand Prairie for 30 years, do the right thing today," one parent said.

Arredondo’s attorneys criticized the board's decision and warned of potential legal repercussions. Arredondo has previously filed a lawsuit against the district, alleging a lack of transparency about the accusations and the board's actions.

The district has not disclosed details of the allegations or the findings of its investigation. Legal experts suggest the firing could prolong the ongoing legal battle between Arredondo and the district, potentially escalating the conflict further.
