The City of Grapevine is urging residents to be vigilant with their pets after two wild animals test positive for rabies this month.

The latest positive animal was a skunk that was picked up near Dove Rd. and Tumbleweed Trl. last Thursday.

Kristina Valentine with Grapevine Animal Services says with two rabies-positive wild animals within a short period of time, now is the time to be proactive with your pets.

"One of the things that people can do that really helps is vaccinating your own pets for rabies," says Valentine, "to prevent that layer of protection for your pet and your loved ones."

And Valentine urges you not to touch or interact with wildlife under any circumstances.

If you encounter ill-appearing animals, leave them alone and call animal control.
