Carrollton Police say someone fired gunshots outside the department this morning. They say someone pulled up and started shooting about 4:40 a.m. as officers arrived for first shift.
"A group of them were gathered in the parking lot, coming into work for the day, and they heard the shots ring out," says the Carrollton Police Department's Jolene DeVito. "No one was hit, and no one was hurt. We're grateful for that."
She says about eight rounds were fired. She says the officers took cover to avoid the gunfire.
DeVito says police are looking at surveillance cameras set up at the department on E. Jackson Road. Jackson, Rainwater Lane and Scott Mill Circle were closed Thursday morning while police investigated.
"We do have our own building cameras. We've got a neighborhood around us. We've got businesses around us. We're canvassing the area to see who has video, and hopefully, that will lead us to a suspect," Devito says.
