Fort Worth Police said at 11:38 a.m. Thursday morning a student notified administrators that one of his classmates was in possession of a gun at Timbercreek High School.

The Fort Worth Police Department school resource officer was notified and located a 17-year-old student who was in possession of the gun and confiscated the weapon.

The student was arrested on suspicion of Places Where Weapons are Prohibited, a third-degree felony.

Because of the student's willingness to speak up, tragedy was averted.
