Today’s the busiest back-to-school morning of the year across North Texas, with 87 districts welcoming students back to class - from Arlington, Frisco, and Mansfield to Grapevine-Colleyville, Irving, and Weatherford.

Among them is Highland Park ISD, holding its first day of school since a devastating tragedy over the summer.

In early July, catastrophic flooding in Central Texas claimed the lives of several Highland Park students during a youth trip.

The district delayed the start of its school year to give families and staff more time to grieve and prepare.

Today, Highland Park joins dozens of other districts in kicking off the new school year, with school zones, buses, and heavier traffic returning across the region.

Law enforcement is reminding drivers to slow down in active school zones, watch for children at crosswalks, and stop for all loading or unloading school buses.

The full list of districts starting today includes: Aledo, Arlington, Burleson, Coppell, Duncanville, Forney, Frisco, Grapevine-Colleyville, HEB, Highland Park, Irving, Mansfield, Waxahachie, Weatherford, and dozens more across North Texas.
