Texas voters will have one more opportunity to comment on the state GOP’s proposed congressional redistricting plan during a special legislative session this summer.
The House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting is scheduled to hold its final in-person public hearing on Monday at the University of Texas at Arlington. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the university’s Rosebud Theater.
The hearing follows two previous sessions — one on Thursday in Austin that drew overflow crowds to the Capitol and another on Saturday in Houston.
President Donald Trump has called on Texas lawmakers to approve new congressional maps before the 2026 midterm elections. The proposal could potentially add five Republican-held seats in the U.S. House.
Separately, the Senate Committee on Redistricting plans to hold four public hearings, all of which will be conducted virtually.
