How rising costs are impacting summer vacation plans

Americans want to travel, but fear they might not be able to afford it.

That’s what a recent U.S. News & World Report survey revealed about Americans’ summer travel plans amid a shaky economy and high prices. Among those who plan to take at least one vacation this year:

Nearly three-fourths (71%) have changed either their behavior or their travel budgets to make summer vacation a reality.

More than 54% have a $1,000 limit per person for their summer travel.

Nearly 1 in 4 (22%) intends to borrow money for vacation, such as using a credit card and carrying a balance.

KRLD's John Liddle broke down the results - and got some money saving tips from Beverly Harzog from U.S. News.
