The city of Dallas is getting $377 million dollars in the coming weeks from the American Rescue Plan Act.
Today the city council heard about plans to spend it.
Its meant to provide immediate relief to public health and safety, help people in crisis, and replace lost revenue.
Longer-term priorities include economic development and infrastructure investment.
Community town halls will be held to get public input on where the money goes.
Texas itself is getting more than $27 billion total in fiscal recovery funds. North Texas, cities nearly $900 million.
Unlike previous relief bills, cities will have until the end of 2024 to spend this money. It will be released in two portions. Dallas will get half the money next month and the other half in 2022.
