Hundreds gather at vigil for slain Allen family

More than 100 people gathered at Celebration Park in Allen last night for a candlelight vigil for the Towhid family, the family of six was found dead in their Allen home.

Police say two brothers formed a suicide pack and they killed 4 members of their family before killing themselves.

Funeral services for the family will be held today at the Allen mosque, the family will be buried in Denton.

A friend says one of the brothers responsible, 19-year-old Farhan Towhid, suffered from depression. He and his 21-year-old Tanvir Towhid formed a suicide pact to kill themselves after shooting four family members.

Farhan's twin sister Farbin, their father Towhidul Islam, mother Iren Islam and grandmother Altafun Nessa also died.

"His depression was not any type of product of his environment. He was just not as genetically lucky as the rest of us," said Farhan's friend Josh Kattampally to NBCDFW.
