Some Iranian Americans in North Texas gathered over the weekend to celebrate following U.S. and Israeli bombings in Iran, expressing hope that the military action could lead to political change in their homeland.
The rallies, held in Plano and Dallas, came after reports that the United States and Israel carried out strikes targeting sites in Iran. Demonstrators sang and danced, waved Iranian flags and called for a new regime in Tehran.
Homeira Hesami of the Iranian American Community of North Texas said many in the diaspora have long hoped for freedom and democracy in Iran.
Participants said they see the strikes as a potential turning point for the country’s future, though the situation remains fluid and reactions within the broader Iranian American community have varied.
The rallies in North Texas were among numerous demonstrations held across the country in response to the escalating conflict, as supporters and critics alike weighed in on the implications of the U.S. and Israeli actions.
