Irving-based ExxonMobil is cutting about 2,000 jobs globally as it consolidates smaller offices into larger regional hubs.

The reductions, announced this week, represent about 3 to 4 percent of the oil giant’s worldwide workforce.

The company said the restructuring is intended to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Most of the cuts are expected to come from support and administrative roles, though ExxonMobil has not detailed which regions will be most affected.

ExxonMobil moved its corporate headquarters to Irving in 2023 after decades in Houston, making the North Texas city its global base. The company employs more than 62,000 people worldwide and remains one of the region’s largest corporate anchors.
