Irving Police issue warning about more telephone scammers targeting residents

Irving Police have a warning out about another round of telephone scammers who are trying to take your money.

Within the past few days the Irving Police Department has had two reports where somebody they say has called people telling them they were with a branch of government and they would need to pay them money with either a wire transfer or gift cards.

The scammer say its necessary in order to avoid deportation or prison time.

In both cases, the victims were instructed to get into a cab or ride share and to not tell their families anything. This made those victim's families to believe their family member had been kidnapped.

The police are urging people not to fall victim to such scams.

Officials remind you that Government branches or police will not ever call requesting you to pay money to avoid deportation, nor would they instruct you to get into a cab or ride share and not tell your families.
