Jury selection for accused serial killer Billy Chemirmir begins today in his first capital murder trial.
Dallas County prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty according to reports, rather they want life without parole.

In a statement, Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot says he met with the victim's families, telling them he would instead seek two jury trials in hopes of getting two life sentences which would be sequenced in such a way as to make sure "there will be no chance for Mr. Chemirmir to die anywhere except in a Texas prison."
Chemirmir is charged in 18-murders and he's suspected in a half-dozen more. Prosecutors believe Chemirmir used his experience as a health-care professional to get close to elderly women and smother them before stealing their belongings.
Jury selection was initially to take place Friday but because of the publicity surrounding the case, the judge is giving lawyers some extra time.
Testimony is scheduled for Monday.
