Downtown Dallas’s Klyde Warren Park is preparing for a major expansion, with construction set to begin late next year on a project that adds more green space and a new indoor events venue.

The upgrade, estimated at about $121 million, is expected to be completed by 2029.

The plan, often referred to as “Phase 2.0,” extends the park west of Akard Street and includes additional lawns, shaded areas, and a flexible indoor facility designed to host community events and private gatherings. The project is funded through a mix of city, state, federal, and private contributions.

Klyde Warren Park, built atop the Woodall Rodgers Freeway, has become one of Dallas’s most popular public spaces since opening in 2012. Officials say the expansion is aimed at accommodating growing crowds and increasing demand for year-round programming.

Construction timelines and final design elements will be refined over the next year as engineering work progresses. The park will remain open throughout most of the build, with limited closures expected as major phases get underway.
