HURST — A North Texas high school band is stepping onto one of the biggest stages in the country this Thanksgiving.

The L.D. Bell Blue Raider Band from Hurst will march down the streets of Manhattan on Thursday as the only Texas band invited to this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The 300-member ensemble earned the coveted spot after a competitive selection process that evaluates bands from across the nation. Their appearance places the school among a small group of programs chosen for the parade’s 99th edition — a broadcast watched by millions each year.

The Macy’s parade invitation is considered one of the highest honors for a high school marching band, highlighting musical achievement, show design, and overall performance quality. For L.D. Bell, it adds to a long history of competitive success and national recognition.

The band is scheduled to take its place on the parade route Thursday morning, joining floats, balloons, and performers from around the world in one of the nation’s most-watched holiday traditions.
