DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The auction for the Robert E Lee statue removed from a Dallas park, ended just before noon Wednesday and the winning bidder got it for $1,435,000.
The bidder only went by LawDude on the website.
The Dallas city council set a minimum $450,000 bid requirement to cover what it cost the city to remove it from the former Lee Park two years ago.
The sculpture is worth around $1 million and has been sitting inside a storage facility since being removed.
The winning bidder must agree not to put the statue in a place that is visible from public property.
