For the first time ever, a woman is heading up the Lewisville school district.

During the school board meeting Tuesday night, the board unanimously voted Dr. Lori Rapp to be the district's new superintendent. Wednesday is her first official day on the job.
"I cannot be more excited to lead with you, to celebrate you and to work to ensure a strong future for LISD," Dr. Rapp says. "I am beyond honored to have your trust and confidence - and to be selected."
Dr. Rapp started working in the LISD 26 years ago as a teacher, and worked her way through the ranks. Most recently, she served as deputy superintendent.
Dr. Rapp is the Lewisville ISD’s 10th superintendent and the first woman to fill the position.
