The Lewisville Police Department fired three officers and gave consequences to others after an internal investigation into the handling of a prostitution case.

Lewisville Police Chief Brook Rollins fired three officers, suspended another seven, and demoted one more for a botched investigation into prostitution. Chief Rollins said the officers had inappropriate contact with some of the alleged prostitutes who were under investigation. It caused the Denton County District Attorney to dismiss nearly three dozen cases.

"Those particular suspects in these cases were not further prosecuted by the District Attorney's office," Rollins said. "And that is disappointing, but is, you know, the reasons behind it are logical ones and we support the DA's decision."

Rollins states that none of the officers had sex with the alleged prostitutes. The Department of Public Safety is conducting a separate criminal investigation.
