The Arlington Fire Department says lightning appears to have sparked a house as storms moved across North Texas overnight. Crews were called to a home on Kings Garden Parkway just before four a.m.

The first engine to arrive found fire coming from the roof of the house, so a second alarm was called because of the size of the fire and to protect neighboring homes. King Garden Parkway is in the Viridian development of North Arlington; crews from both Arlington and Euless responded.

They started a search and interior attack but had to withdraw and move to defensive positions. The fire was spreading through the attic.

A truck from Euless started aerial operations, but those were stopped as another thunderstorm approached.

Crews started handlines and moved to an offensive strategy to extinguish the fire. They controlled the fire less than half an hour after arriving.

Investigators say a lightning strike caused the fire.

No firefighters or anyone in the house was hurt. The Red Cross is helping two people who lived there.
