The superintendent of Little Elm ISD said Monday he will retire, effective in 2023, becoming the 10th leader of a North Texas school district to announce plans this school year to retire or resign.
Little Elm ISD Superintendant Daniel Gallagher announced Monday he's stepping at the end of 2023, giving trustees plenty of time to find a replacement.
Gallagher has been the Little Elm ISD superintendent since 2017.

Speaking on behalf of the board of trustees, board president David Montemayor praised Gallagher for his ability to build a strong culture of collaboration both within the district and between the district and the community.
Nine other North Texas school superintendents have either already stepped down or announced plans to do so recently, including Dallas ISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa and Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Kent Scribner.
