It appears North Texas restaurants, gyms and other businesses will be allowed to go to 75% capacity on Monday.
Based on new guidance issued Thursday by Gov. Greg Abbott, if COVID-19 cases make up fewer than 15% of hospital patients for seven consecutive days in a particular region, most businesses in that region can welcome customers at the higher 75% rate.
However, the governor did not give bars and nightclubs the green light to reopen, although he said state officials continue to look for ways that will allow those shuttered establishments to resume operations.
Gov. Abbott also announced Texas will have the ability to administer "millions" of 15-minute COVID-19 tests each month.
DFW Hospital Council President & CEO Stephen Love said coronavirus cases currently constitute less than 7% of the region's hospital patient census, putting North Texas well below the new threshold.
Love talked with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
