Indictments for man in chase/shootout that wounded a constable

DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- A Dallas County grand jury has handed up indictments against a Dallas man who was arrested after a chase, crash and a shootout with police.

Hector Murillo, 19, is accused of murder in the April 5th shooting of Carlos Roque.  At the time of that shooting, Murillo and his twin brother Adrian were out of jail on bond.  On May 12th, both Murillo brothers were spotted in Dallas County where a chase began.  The second indictment accuses Murillo of attempting to evade police.

The chase led police through Johnson and into Hill County where Constable Kevin Cordell became involved.  When the car with the Murillo brothers crashed, gunfire began.  Adrian Murillo was killed and Cordell was wounded in the face.

"It is good to hear that part of the judicial system is moving forward," said Cordell.

The Constable has since undergone several surgeries for his wound.  He has recovered and returned to work full time.

Court records show both Murillos had faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when there were allowed out of the Dallas County jail on ankle monitors.  The records show five different cases in which four people were threatened with guns.  The records show that prosecutors had asked that the two be held without bond, but that a State District Court allowed both brothers to post bail and be released with the electronic monitors.  The records say both men subsequently cut off their monitors and had been on the run.

Hector Murillo is also facing charges in Johnson and Hill counties.
