A 30-year-old man faces two charges of failing to stop and render aid in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a 14-year-old girl and injured a 16-year-old boy in Garland on Saturday, police say.

Stetson Ybarbo, of Rowlett, faces charges of failure to stop and render aid involving death and failure to stop and render aid involving serious bodily injury. He was being held Monday in the Garland jail.

The crash took place late Saturday night at the intersection of East Oates Road and Miami Drive. Police said Ybarbo was likely speeding when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the teenagers. The 14-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 16-year-old boy remains hospitalized.

According to witnesses, Ybarbo was seen fleeing the crash site with a child. Authorities tracked him down shortly afterward and took him into custody.

A vigil is planned for the two teens on Monday evening.
