A teenage driver involved in a deadly Arlington crash this week has been charged with marijuana possession, but police do not believe he was high at the time of the crash.
On Wednesday night during some of the heaviest rain, a pick-up truck slammed into an on-coming car on West Sanford in central Arlington. The driver of the car was killed and the teenage driver of the pick-up was treated at the scene but did not need to go to the hospital.
Police now say they did a series of field sobriety tests on the teenager and he showed "no signs of intoxication." However, officers did find marijuana either on him or in the pick-up. He was arrested for that.
The accident investigators determined the teen's truck crossed the center line where he slammed into the victim's car. Police believe speed and the rainy conditions were definitely factors leading to the crash. The victim had no I-D on him so the Tarrant County Medical Examiner will have to figure out who he is.
