Health officials in Collin County are warning residents about a possible measles exposure after an infected individual visited several retail stores in Plano earlier this month.

According to the Collin County Health Care Services Department, the individual visited three stores over the course of three days, from April 10-11. The locations include Walmart near Central Expressway and Spring Creek Parkway, Dollar Tree near K Avenue and Park Boulevard, and Ross Dress for Less near Central Expressway and Parker Road.

County officials urge anyone who was at those locations during that time to monitor themselves for symptoms through Sunday.

Measles symptoms can include fever, dry cough, runny nose, sore throat, inflamed or watery eyes, small white spots with bluish-white centers inside the mouth, and a skin rash of large, flat blotches.

Residents who develop symptoms are advised to contact their health care provider immediately and avoid public places to prevent the potential spread of the virus.
