The mother of a murder defendant from DeSoto today told a Dallas County jury she was with her son the moment he learned his ex had been killed.
Henrietta Williams says she was home with son Victor when he got a phone call from the son of Shiela Prater saying she had been killed. Victor Williams is on trial for her March 3 2019 murder in Prater's Dallas home.
Henrietta Williams said the two announced they intended to get married, although it's not clear whether they actually did and she said the relationship was rocky from the start. Williams said the day after Prater's body was discovered she drove her son to Dallas Police headquarters and warned him that if police started blaming him for the murder he should call a lawyer.
Under cross-examination, Mrs. Williams admitted her son was a drug user and said she had no idea what he was like under the influence.
This case could go to the jury tomorrow.
