Police and school leaders are investigating after Nazi flags were discovered hanging outside Rockwall-Heath High School early Saturday morning.

Heath police say they were called to the campus around 6:30 a.m., where multiple flags tied to Nazi Germany were draped on the east side of the building. The disturbing display was discovered before anyone arrived for weekend activities.

Mayor Jeremiah McClure wrote on social media that the display was “hateful” and “unacceptable” and promised “those accountable will face the consequences of their behavior.”

Principal Todd Bradford said the display was “criminal, inappropriate and offensive,” adding that Rockwall-Heath High School is working with district officials and police to investigate.

Investigators are reviewing campus security footage to determine who placed the flags. Rockwall ISD has not disclosed whether any suspects have been identified, but officials stress they are treating the matter as a serious offense.

The Anti-Defamation League and other watchdog groups have tracked a surge in antisemitic incidents across Texas in recent years. Local leaders say that makes the Rockwall-Heath display especially concerning in a school environment.

Despite the disturbing discovery, Rockwall ISD officials emphasized that students and staff remain safe and that the campus will continue normal operations while the investigation continues.
