ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD)- There's a huge mess to clean up in Arlington where a new townhome was absolutely flattened by what appears to be a natural gas blast over the weekend.

Early New Years Day, Arlington 911 got numerous calls about the blast and resulting fire in the Viridian planned community along North Collins near Green Oaks. Firefighters found what had been a nearly-completed two-story townhome was nothing but a pile of smoldering rubble.
Investigators believe a gas appliance may not have been fully turned off before the explosion. The blast also heavily damaged the adjoining townhomes, shattered windows across the street and left debris piled on parked cars.
Arlington Fire-Rescue says construction company engineers will decide how to stabilize the destroyed structure so it is safe enough for investigators to get inside to determine the exact cause.
