North Texas COVID-19 hospitalizations soar 5X in a month

As of Wednesday, more than 2,500 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in North Texas, a fivefold increase from a month ago.

It is just one of the sobering statistics blamed primarily on the Delta variant of the coronavirus.  COVID patients make up more than 17% of the region's overall hospital population, and about 40% of patients in North Texas ICUs are fighting the virus.

Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council President/CEO Stephen Love said local experts are concerned the numbers could take an even more grim turn in the month ahead.  He talked with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
