North Texans can give all day Thursday to more than 3,300 local nonprofits through North Texas Giving Day, the region’s annual online fundraising drive organized by Communities Foundation of Texas.
Giving runs through midnight at NorthTexasGivingDay.org. The foundation says the event covers about 20 North Texas counties and more than 25 cause areas, including education, health, social services, the arts, animal welfare and the environment. Early giving opened Aug. 27. Sponsors cover transaction and technology fees so 100 percent of each tax-deductible donation made on the site goes to the chosen charity.
Donors can pay by credit card, ACH, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Participating groups are verified as IRS-recognized nonprofits. Last year more than 100,000 people gave $78 million. The campaign, which began in 2009, has raised more than $712 million and is described by the foundation as the largest community-wide giving event in the country.
CBS Texas quoted foundation president and CEO Wayne White: “North Texas Giving Day is when everyone becomes a philanthropist. You don’t have to have a billion dollars or a million when we all rally together.” He said many nonprofits are under extra pressure after cuts in grants and federal funding.
The Dallas Morning News reported in August that Amazon is this year’s presenting sponsor, with additional support from Charles Schwab, Hunt Consolidated, the McCune Losinger Family Fund and the Sid W. Richardson Foundation. The newspaper is a media sponsor of the campaign.
CW33 reports the City of Dallas issued a proclamation recognizing Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, as North Texas Giving Day. In-person events earlier this week included a family fair in The Colony and a downtown gathering at Pegasus Plaza.
