North Texas lakes closing due to high water levels

Dallas (1080 KRLD) - After a very wet Spring and with more rain expected today, a lot of North Texas lakes are closed or partially closed because of high water.

The ground is so saturated that additional rain just runs right off into the lakes, causing the water level to rise.

As a result, at Joe Pool Lake the boat ramps at Britton, Lynn Creek and Loyd parks are closed because of unsafe conditions. Camping at Loyd Park remains open for sites not affected by rising water.

Meanwhile, at Lake Grapevine, Murrell Park is partially closed including the low water boat ramp, the picnic area and some of the campsites. Right now, the high water boat ramp is open.

Lake Ray Hubbard and Lake Ray Roberts are open. However, Lewisville Lake Park and the public boat ramps were temporarily closed last week and access will likely remain restricted through the end of the holiday.
