FC Dallas and the Dallas Sports Commission have revealed a logo and details about their marketing effort to win World Cup matches in 2026. FIFA has announced North America will host the 2026 World Cup and will choose cities later this year.
FIFA has chosen, "We are Dallas," as one of 16 "host city brands."
The Dallas Sports Commission says the branding will include "faces, places and special FIFA World Cup™ stories that make Dallas unique as a Host City." The organization says its logo includes bright green in the background and text in orange to highlight the brightness of the Dallas skyline.
"One of the things behind it is the energy, bold energy, how energetic we are, how we strive to be big and better," says Dallas Sports Commission Executive Director Monica Paul.
Animations of the logo include stars to represent the Lone Star and Dallas Cowboys. The Dallas Sports Commissions' pitch to host semi-final matches or the World Cup Final includes AT&T Stadium as a venue capable of hosting a large event that will draw an international crowd.
"'We are Dallas,' 'We are 26' incorporated all our regional partners from Fort Worth to Frisco, Arlington, Dallas, FC Dallas, the Cowboys to ask, 'Who are we as a region?'" Paul says.
Organizers say the launch of #WeAreDallas can show FIFA how the area has grown as an international destination that welcomes people from different parts of the world. Airlines at DFW Airport now fly non-stop to more than 250 domestic and international cities.
"Ensuring Dallas is considered a top international city and sports city is very important," Paul says.
FC Dallas says its Toyota Stadium in Frisco could serve as a practice venue in addition to the Cotton Bowl, Chocktaw Stadium in Arlington and stadiums at SMU and TCU. FC Dallas President Dan Hunt says that availability of different venues sets North Texas apart from other cities.
"The goal is to host the final here," he says. "I've been pushing it and pushing it. We have such a great support team here in our partnerships with the Cowboys and Sports Commission. The Jones family has been as engaged in this as anything I've seen that's not Cowboys."
Hunt says the ability of different cities, business groups and sports franchises in the area to work together also gives North Texas an advantage.
He says DFW Airport and Love Field would combine to provide quick access for different parts of FIFA's operation.
"I want to have the final here, but I also want to have the international broadcast center here, referee headquarters," he says. "I also want to have the base camp for visiting national teams. That's incredibly important because the economic impact of those on communities is fabulous."
