Back in October, prosecutors in Houston said they were investigating more than 200 teachers who may have cheated on their certification tests, and now we're learning some of those teachers were working here in the Metroplex.

A grand jury indicted five people in Harris County for falsifying credentials. Prosecutors say the group made more than $1 million by taking certification tests for teachers who had previously failed.

The Texas Education Agency has now released the names of about half of those being investigated. Houston ISD had the most with 15 implicated followed by Dallas ISD with nine. The Dallas Teachers' Union's Rena Honea says they push for a certified teacher in every classroom, but news like this can hurt that effort.

Duncanville ISD had eight teachers named, Fort Worth had five and Arlington had three. Not all employees are union members, and the TEA says they may not still be working in the same district.

The districts say they're cooperating with TEA and want to uphold standards for teacher certification.
