Federal investigators have issued a final report on the July 2022 crash of a plane near the Dallas Executive Airport.
On July 28 of last year, a pilot who was alone on the plane lost engine power. He tried to make it to Dallas Executive Airport but crashed into trees about a half-mile short of the runway.
Reports show the pilot survived the crash, but in its report, the National Transportation Safety Board says the plane experienced engine failure due to sloppy maintenance.
The reports say there were loose screws and corroded electrical parts. It led to a short that cut the plane's engine, sending it into the wooded area.
The NTSB says whoever replaced the electrical part did not record it in a logbook, as required by federal regulations.
