A carjacking in Mesquite escalated into a police chase and ended with an officer firing his weapon overnight in Far East Dallas, police say.
The incident began when two armed suspects reportedly stole a vehicle from the Watermark Apartments in the 2600 block of John West Drive in Mesquite, police said. Officers later spotted the stolen car, leading to a pursuit that ended when the suspects crashed at an apartment complex in Far East Dallas.
The suspects fled on foot after the crash. During the incident, one officer fired their weapon.
"An officer perceived a threat from one of the suspects and fired his service weapon," police said. "We don't have anything at this time to indicate that the suspect was hit. Nobody was taken into custody. The suspects are still at large."
The investigation is ongoing.
