With rain in the forecast through Monday and above-average rainfall to start 2024, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it's keeping a close eye on lake levels in North Texas.
They released water from Lewisville Lake on Thursday and are monitoring levels downstream to avoid flooding.
"In the Fort Worth district office, we continue to watch the levels in the metroplex," Public Affairs Specialist at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Clay Church said. "The reservoirs are all rising a little bit due to the recent rain. Some have the capacity to hold those flood waters."
Last year, North Texas experienced drought conditions, but Church said current lake levels aren't unusual for this time of year.
