After burning nearly 200 acres, a brush fire near Eagle Mountain Lake is now contained. But with this heat, all North Texas firefighters are keeping their fingers crossed.
The fire broke out along Bonds Ranch Road near the Lake and Hicks Airfield. Tarrant County Fire Marshall Randy Renois says a construction crew was cutting up rebar and sparks apparently ignited the bone dry grass and brush.
With help from three Texas A&M Forest Service water drop planes, ground crews cut off the fire before it could destroy any homes but about a half dozen homeowners were asked to evacuate until it was safe to come back.
