An El Paso shopping mall remains a crime scene today -- after a young man was gunned down in the food court Wednesday night.
It was supper time in the food court at Cielo Vista Mall a couple of miles south of El Paso International. Suddenly, customers heard first loud quarreling and then -- gunfire.
Witness Michelle Lopez says she "heard kids arguing" and then saw a young man pull a pistol and open fire. She and dozens of other customers crowded into a restroom, praying for safety.
In the food court, an off-duty El Paso officer,working a security gig, disarmed the gunman without firing a shot and arrested him.
A second suspect was also taken in for questioning.
Beside the young man who died, three others were wounded -- and two are in critical condition.
