The owner of a Burleson dog obedience school has been arrested for animal cruelty.
According to Burleson police, James Christopher Nikolopoulos has been arrested for two counts of cruelty to animals. Chief Billy Cordell says police initially arrested Nikolopoulous Wednesday after reports of brutal animal abuse.
A second charge of cruelty to livestock or animals with serious bodily injury was added Thursday. A website says Nikolopoulous is the owner of a business, but that website no longer works and the Facebook page has been taken down.
The story has caught the attention of animal rights activists as far away as Boston.
Neither Nikolopoulos nor his lawyer could be reached for comment.
