The Palo Pinto County Gotham Fire is still burning today and is only about 50 percent contained.
The Texas A&M Forest Service says it is employing heavy equipment like bull dozers to cut down dense shrub and make fire breaks around the burned over area which now covers about 100 acres.
The fire is burning west of Santo about mid-way between I-20 and Lake Palo Pinto.
The Forest Service is warning residents to stay informed and prepare for potential evacuation orders.
