When the annual Rose Bowl is played in Arlington tomorrow it will be called the "Rose Bowl Game." That had been in doubt because the formal name's copyright is owned jointly by the Tournament of Roses Association and the city of Pasadena, California.
Yesterday, the Pasadena City Council held a hastily-called special meeting to authorize use of the name "Rose Bowl Game" when it is played in Arlington's AT&T Stadium.
The game this year serves as one of the College Football Playoff's semi-finals and was forced out of its traditional venue in Pasadena because of California's Coronavirus restrictions bar fans and family members of players from attending.
The CFP semi-final pits top-ranked Alabama against No. 4 Notre Dame. Kick-off is 3 p.m. Friday.
