DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - This week, little helper elves with the Perot Museum of Nature and Science are delivering activity kits to hundreds of kids in the hospital.
"During a trying year like this one, we feel it's more important than ever to provide these opportunities," says Katherine Stenesen, Chief Development Officer of the Perot Museum."Especially while kids are out of school."
The museum is partnering with Lockheed Martin to give pediatric patients at Children's Health science kits and space-themed face masks. Kids can scan a QR code and complete the activity kits virtually with Tech Truck instructors.
"It's a holiday-themed kit that's focused on creating a light-up ornament in the shape of a dinosaur," Stenseson says. "It's going to be a lot of fun, and the great thing is it teaches our kids about how to do hands-on S.T.E.M activities at home."
The kits are being delivered to the hospital all week, but starting tomorrow, everyone will get the chance to get one. The activity kits are being given away to kids visiting the Perot museum during winter break on a first come, first serve basis.
The museum is currently operating at 25% capacity. It's located at 2201 N. Field Street in Dallas, Texas. You can find out more about the museum's COVID-19 safety precautions online at perotmuseum.org., or by calling 214-428-5555.
