A church in Plano hosted services Sunday morning despite a fire this weekend. Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano says someone left a firebomb outside its front doors between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
The church near Parker Road and Spring Creek Parkway says a passerby noticed the fire and called 911. The church says its leadership was also notified when its fire alarm system went off.
"Because of the quick action of Plano’s First Responders, the damage to the church property was limited to the front doors, the materials directly outside the front doors, and the entrance foyer," the church wrote in a Facebook post.
No one was hurt.
Community Unitarian Universalist Church says police and the fire department spent Sunday at the church collecting evidence and interviewing church leaders. Despite the investigation, the church said it would continue with Sunday morning services and said Plano Police would provide extra security.
No arrests have been announced. The church says it had been working with police and reviewing security "since the intrusion of a hate group in the church building during and after Worship Service on Sunday, June 25."
